1. Chinese Lunar New Year 2025 Yi-Si Snake Year
1.1 Characteristics of the Year
- Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches: The Yi-Si Snake Year is composed of the Heavenly Stem “Yi” and the Earthly Branch “Si,” marking a year in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar.
- Leap Month: 2025 is a leap year in the lunar calendar with an intercalary sixth month, resulting in a total of 13 lunar months and a year length of 384 days, 19 days longer than the Gregorian year 2025.
- Double Spring Year: 2025 is also a double spring year, meaning it will have two Start of Spring solar terms, occurring on February 3, 2025 (the sixth day of the first lunar month) and February 4, 2026 (the seventeenth day of the twelfth lunar month). As the folk saying goes, “A year with two springs is filled with gold everywhere,” which is generally considered an auspicious sign.
1.2 Date Range
- Start Date: The Yi-Si Snake Year begins on January 29, 2025, which is also the start of the Lunar New Year, known as the Spring Festival.
- End Date: The Yi-Si Snake Year concludes on February 16, 2026, marking the end of the Lunar New Year and the beginning of the next lunar year.
2. Zodiac Fortunes for 2025
2.1 Rat
Is the Rat trembling with anticipation? Are there new traps around? How useful can they be? A philosopher once faced three questions: Are there any rats in your trap? Are there some rats in your trap? Are there rats in your trap? The answers were: No, no, and yes. We can’t explain further, but it seems Rats will have a good year, though what constitutes a good year is up to you to interpret.
2.2 Ox
This year, it’s advisable for the Ox to complain less. Ignore the Grand Duke Jupiter and focus on your path. Occasional setbacks and arguments are expected but won’t deter the Ox. Honest communication will earn recognition rather than cold shoulders. There are no strong enemies ahead nor helpers by your side, but don’t worry—your hard work will lead to success.
2.3 Tiger
This year, Tigers may feel exhausted at times. The New Year begins with ominous signs. If left unchecked, the Flying Stars may bring gloom. Remember, Tigers are fierce; rely on your claws to change your fate.
2.4 Rabbit
Today you hold a rabbit, tomorrow you may have nothing? No, it’s more likely that today you stay put, and tomorrow you follow your heart. Welcome this limited good year. Open fields of ripe grass, lettuce, and carrots pave the way to the future. However, undercurrents stir, and some deities may plot against the Rabbit. A little caution will ensure a smooth year without developing bad habits.
2.5 Dragon
How high can the Dragon soar? This year, even with oxygen, the Dragon remains distant from the peak. Progress will alternate between smooth and stagnant. The Snake Year surpasses the Dragon Year, but not all auspicious stars will favor the Dragon. The Dragon must still rely on its own efforts, sharpen its claws, and face adversity with pride.
2.6 Snake
We guess the forked tongue means the Snake can soothe potential prey or hunters twice as fast. This year is a great time to shine. The road ahead is rugged and fraught with dangers and traps. If you only look ahead, you may miss the dangers underfoot. Wait until 2026 to gaze into the distance!
2.7 Horse
Hungry? Want a table by the window? It’s better to invite a loved one for dinner and enjoy happy times. The road ahead is bumpy, but don’t dwell on it—forge ahead. With a full granary, indulge in joy and shine in the arena. Occasional missteps are fine, but showing your true character will smooth the path to victory.
2.8 Sheep
Heaven’s teasing seems to unsettle the Sheep, who may face dilemmas this year. But how much can the Sheep fight against fate? If you lie down and take it, fate will bring endless troubles. The title of Greatest of All Time (G.O.A.T.) is well-deserved. Facing difficulties, the Sheep will say, “I can do it.”
2.9 Monkey
Current gains may slip away at the start of the year. The Grand Duke Jupiter is on a mission, and the Monkey is on the list. But don’t panic—Jupiter’s influence will stabilize, and the Monkey will have many invisible friends this year.
2.10 Rooster
What will the Rooster encounter in the Snake Year? The answer is: everything. Don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Stay busy and prepared to be this year’s star: “When the Rooster crows, the world brightens!” With many auspicious stars around, nothing can stop the Rooster. A smooth and prosperous year awaits.
2.11 Dog
Last year was tough for Dogs in some ways, but this year should bring improvement. As spring turns to summer, the malevolent forces that chased the Dog last year finally leave, and the Dog can finally rest. The coming year is no longer a “dog’s head and snake’s tail” but a time for action.
2.12 Pig
We don’t mean to make a fuss, but this year is not one to let your guard down. Good and bad luck are hard to distinguish, and someone will inevitably face misfortune. If you’re not careful, you may become the target. But don’t panic—stay steady, do your homework, and be fully prepared.
3. Five Elements for the Snake Year
If you’ve followed our annual forecasts over the years, you’ll notice we track the seasonal shifts based on the relative strength of the Five Elements. Wood corresponds to spring, Fire to summer, Metal to autumn, and Water to winter. So, what does Earth correspond to? Since twelve months can’t be evenly divided by five, the solution is to add an Earth month after the two months of each season’s dominant element. Thus, each season is preceded and followed by an Earth month. You might also notice that tracking seasonal elements isn’t the only reference, as the strength of the Five Elements changes yearly.
Moreover, each month has its own combination of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, influencing the relative strength of the Five Elements. In this year’s Bazi chart, the year starts from the month’s position, paired with the Yang elements Wu (Earth) and Yin (Wood). While this information isn’t enough for a professional analysis, it serves as a beginner’s guide.
3.1 Metal
Metal’s strength is weaker than last year, fading in the annual Bazi chart and nearly silent among the Ten Gods. Although there’s a slight Metal presence in autumn and a minor resurgence in spring, Metal and Metal-related industries are expected to have a subdued performance this year, including less common industries like watchmaking, aluminum alloy doors, and martial arts studios.
3.2 Wood
Wood is the star of this year’s fortune, with strong Wood energy in the Bazi chart. The dominant element in the annual chart is Wood, and the month’s branch is Wood, which usually determines the relative strength of all Five Elements. Additionally, the day’s branch is Mao, which is strong in Wood. Small industries like textiles, painting scroll mounting, and art galleries are worth watching.
3.3 Water
As the second strongest element in the annual chart, Water has decent strength in the Bazi but tends to be drained by Wood. Winter is expected to be strong for Water, with a surprising performance in summer. Conventional Water-related industries like trade and shipping should remain robust, while secondary industries like film, brokerage, and dyeing are also worth attention.
3.4 Fire
Fire is strong in summer and late autumn. The Bazi contains Fire, and abundant Wood fuels it. Although Fire isn’t strong in some months, the ample Wood energy can still ignite it. Fire-related industries are expected to perform well this year, including large oil and gas industries, as well as hair salons, kilns, and psychological assessments in large companies or organizations.
3.5 Earth
The small amount of Earth in the Bazi should sustain a decent year for Earth-related industries. While growth may not be explosive, there’s still room for development. The year starts and ends well, with fluctuations in between. Industries following this pattern include antiques, various consulting firms, and professionals who draft documents for others, such as legal assistants.
